Getting prepared

Going chrome

We are currently in the preparation fase, meaning getting Chromeworthy and safe. Sorry i mean roadworthy, the chrome transformation is already handled. That was quite an important makeover, since our teamname suggests something in that direction and the car had a military-style image when we bought it. We don't want to drive in anything referring to military connections off course, this had to be radically improved to something more inspiring.  Chrome had her beauty treatment just a few weeks ago, and she looks good as new. A Chrome ⭐️ is born!

Quite a few issues have also already been solved and we had multiple wrenching days to get the job done. We got new brakes, couple of brakelines fixed, better coilover springs, exhaust brackets, new rear seat etc. You know what they say, preparation is half of the fun 🤩.

The odometer of Chrome reads 358683 kilometers, so this baby has certainly seen something of the world. We bought the car in a more or less black military style from some great guys who did several competitions with it in the far North. Cold expeditions therefore, but being a Volvo the car managed to put in the miles without any serious issues. Let's hope she is as good for us as she was to them!

Jobs to do

within a couple of weeks we will still have to paint and install the roofrack, manage the electrics and wiring, check which reserve parts and tools are needed, repair some interior trim and give it a fresh splash of oil and a filter. After that it's good to go and we can start focussing on our loading capacity and preparation what to bring with us during the trip.

right before take-off we will take Chrome to the wrap shop, where the custom team artwork and War Child stickers will be applied. After that, it's game time and our tour d'Europe can finally start. Let's go!
